(Specifically for [livejournal.com profile] apintrix and [livejournal.com profile] cmat, who very kindly asked to be kept up to date. And others, who didn't specifically ask, but did comment. I've been babbling about my various minor illnesses for long enough that I'm sure I've become tedious. Thank you all for paying attention.)

Diagnosis. I have:

The irony of my having contracted (commonly) childhood diseases is not lost on me. Nothing serious, and stuff you'd see in a third-grader. (Insert obvious remarks about maturity here.) Although as [livejournal.com profile] resonance42 gently suggested, I should not have toughed it out for nearly a month before going to have it looked at.

Anyway, must go as I'm late for a dinner; thanks again for listening!

Glad to know that it's nothing too serious.

You should try to avoid exposing pregnant women to Fifth's Disease though. If you think you've exposed any pregnant women you should let them know.

I got nailed by Fifth Disease a couple of years back. This was, of course, during the precise one-week period when she moved cross-country to be with me and we closed on/moved into our new house. It took a while to diagnose, too - at one point my doctor actually said "Well, I'm pretty sure it's not West Nile."

In any case, good luck with the recovery. Once the red comes out, the worst is over, or such was my experience.

I wondered, too, but I haven't seen Leon since ... oh, God, have I seen you since my surgery, Leon? I can't remember. Definitely not in the past couple of weeks, though. Maybe it's going around the edges of Suspects? Not that I've seen too many Suspects lately, either ...

"commonest amongst 4 - 10 yr olds."

Yeah. I have a thing on my hand that was described to me as a late-emerging birthmark. My dermatologist said she'd never seen it on anyone who wasn't four.

The one time I had my horoscope cast (it was gift), one of the things the woman said was that as a Capricorn, I am aging backwards, becoming sillier and less conservative as I age. I liked that, but I'm gonna be pissed if I have to have chicken pox again.

Heh. When you described your symptoms and their context, a number of very scary possibilities, in addition to Fifth disease, popped into my head.

Glad that it worked out to be only fifth disease (I love that name - the origin of it is even funnier).

Feel better!

Yah, I was actually doing a bit of research at the time I posted, and I noticed that couple of those possibilities were scary enough that if I had them, I probably wasn't going to make it to the doctor's office. Not on my own, at least.

Thus the "ut-oh". :)

But the lack of any fever was somewhat reassuring, as was the fact that overall, I was getting better.

Thanks for the good wishes!

Yah, I'm a little worried that I visited [livejournal.com profile] ceo and [livejournal.com profile] gosling and their baby recently, but a) it was a brief visit, b) I stayed mostly on the far side of the room, and c) the online references seem to say that newborns are relatively safe from this because of immunities from the mother--assuming she's had it, which is likely.

In any case, I'm staying far away from pregnant women now...

Thanks for the good wishes!

oh, God, have I seen you since my surgery, Leon?

The last time I saw you, you were in still mostly confined to bed with your leg up, and I brought you sesame balls. It was months and months ago, because the air conditioning was on in your room. :)

At least, that's the last time I remember seeing you. Has it really been that long?

I'm guessing I didn't get it directly from you. :) However, there are lots of asymptomatic carriers of this thing, so circulating around the edges of Suspects is possible. It's also possible I got it on one of the campuses I spend time at.

In any case, hope you're feeling better soon!

I had Fifth's Disease as a teenager, and it itched abominably. I thought I might have been re-exposed early in my pregnancy, so had a blood test done, and it came back with "you have lots of antibodies to parvo [the other name for it] but they're all old ones."

If that's best for you, I'm okay with it, but Monday tends to be a fairly busy day. Tuesday or Wednesday afternoon would be better. On the other hand, I suspect with you I'd end up giving you a brief tour, and then letting you loose to play, so I'd still get work done. And with this week being spring break, next Monday still might not be too bad. hmm.
Okay. I leave this up to you and your schedule. :) early-mid afternoon tends to be best for me, and not Fridays.
And please make sure at least the eye stuff is better; I'm really paranoid about that, because if I get it, I can't deal with it, and the last time I did have it, I was also allergic to the medication.
Oh, and I hope you're feeling better, overall. :)

Also, I won't come by before my eyes settle down, definitely. They have me putting drops in my eyes for the next week.

Oh, and I hope you're feeling better, overall. :)

Thanks!

Thank you for updating; it was very kind. I did see it and relax a bit, although I haven't actually had a chance to stop and type something until now. :-) I, too, am glad it's something comparatively minor... some of the obvious possibilities sucked much more.

Notwithstanding that, it's still a big pain, and you have my deepest sympathy!
