You sir, have much less need of my advice than some people.
So of course you listen. :)
(There must be some aphorism that goes with this: "Those who don't need the advice listen best; those who need it most never do"? I don't know, something like that.)
Dude! I listen :) And I have appreciated your insight and advice on many occasions. You have a way of getting through to me sometimes when Matt & Sean can't.
But I SOOOOO understand what you mean. Espcially when someone is asking for advice, but they just can't take it in. *sigh* I guess you gotta learn stuff in your own time. *hug*
OH, and I think I have this affinity for Dude lately, dunno why :)
Yeah, the problem is that it's always easier to see clearly from an external perspective, when you're not all muddled up by the emotional content of the situation.
I don't think I'm any better than anyone else at taking advice--although I will say in my defense that I rarely ask for it--but I am an old hand at learning from other people's experience. The benefit of having two older sisters, I suppose :)
Is that good or bad? I find I don't ask for it enough, myself.
Well, I ask for other people's input and perspective, which I find very useful. But I rarely say "well, what should I do?" unless I'm pretty open to following their advice.

*nod*
That makes sense; sometimes I actually do want to know what they'd do, to see how that differs from what I'd do, but there is this sense in which you both feel like you have to follow that advice once it's been solicited.
The only advice you ever gave me was to try breakfast at the Toast...and see where THAT got me! (It got me to New Hampshire as the sun was rising). I'm 1 for 1!

Kinda makes you feel like, "Am I talking to the wall?"

I've noticed. Who'd you pick that up from?
Grrr. LJ was supposed to log me in after I commented above.

That's clearly a good thing. All the benefits of mistakes, and none of the cost.
