I just got three bags of groceries and paid less than €19. Maybe it was because I was in London, but my suspicion is that £13 simply wouldn't go that far.

For that matter, I feel like it's on the high side of what I'd get for $23 back home. There were a bunch of cold cuts and stuff.

That's also not surprising. Shopping in Sweden is really expensive.

It may still be cheaper than in the UK, though.

I haven't really compared intensively, but according to all of the studies I've read, Sweden is more expensive than the UK.

Oh, I believe you. I haven't been in Sweden in some years, and that was when the exchange rate was significantly better for dollars than it is now.

However, the sticker shock on arriving in the UK this time was quite striking.

London is not typical of the UK, if that helps. (Of course, I lived in Dundee, which was not exactly the sticks, but you could see the sticks from there.)
