I'm going to miss working in this office.

I'm really glad to be going back to the States, of course, because I miss everyone back there. But this office has been a great place to work, with good people. I liked it here. It was a fine place to work.

People have been stopping in to say goodbye. Actually, some of them started to come by yesterday because they thought that was my last day.

I feel like I've just gotten settled in, and now it's time to leave.

I'm sorry to hear it! That sounds like a hazard for short-term positions, doubly so internationally. But, I'm looking forward to having you back in the same time zone! Enjoy the trip back!

Actually, the position is a continuing one; I was here for familiarization and training, but I'll still be working for the company. It's just that I'll be in the States.

I work for a little tech startup based here in Germany. More exactly, I work for the US office, and I'm here in Germany to get up to speed.

You are disgustingly likeable worldwide. It's pandemic! :P

In a different tone, bring back the good things, see if you can make any of those things work in this environment. It'll be good to catch up with you again.

May I suggest you make sure to give yourself some (possibly self-indulgent) time to grieve/bid farewell? If you are already down with that, then forgive my redundancy:)

Bummer that you're feeling like you're losing some roots. I would say that this is USians' gain, except that your location of residence seems to have little to do with where you'll show up.

So where in the US are you returning to?

(And when are you ever actually going to make it to Florida? I'm hoping to move to Austin before too many more months pass by)

oh, WAY :)

I'm not sure how I first met him, it was probably at a party or something, but he used to crash at the appartment I shared with a couple of other people in NYC when he'd be in town.

Haven't seen him in way to many years, though... (poke, poke)

I've started to think that a perfectly acceptable way to introduce one's self to just about any geekyish / fannish person is to say, "so, how do you know Leon?"
