According to http://community.livejournal.com/lj_maintenance/, they are fighting off a major DDOS attack, where someone is trying to overload and kill their servers. It's not personal. I hope it gets better tomorrow when the A team gets back from the weekend.
Oh, wow, it was a DDOS. I wondered if that was it,when LJ wouldn't work for me on Friday. I really hope that your problems clear up soon - hang in there!
Just keep trying. I've had to make at least two different tries hitting the "Post" button (i.e., go back to the screen where you entered the text and hit the button again) to get LJ to take it. I have no idea why, though.
