Speaking of stuff going out on the curb...

...tomorrow is Moving Day (Fête du déménagement) in Quebec. Trash-picking galore, for those of you go in for that sort of thing.

It occurred to me once that, if not for the border, moving companies could have a real opportunity doing moves in Quebec for July 1 and Eastern Massachusetts for September 1. You'd have plenty of time to move the trucks and workers.

Alas, NAFTA hasn't done anything for that business, probably because they don't have enough lobbyists.

Tomorrow is also Canada Day, of course.

Our move ends tonight, which is one reason why this is at the forefront of my mind today.

A friend on the hill forwarded me the following. Supported by the NRA, Rep John Boccieri (D-OH) is pushing to allow firearms to be exempt from bankruptcy: “In those states that allow a debtor to use federal exemption law, this provision would prevent a trustee from selling a debtor’s firearms to satisfy the claims of creditors.” This amendment would make it so someone going through bankruptcy can’t have their guns liquidated and sold to pay off their bills.
