Can anyone out there speak to me about the pros and cons of getting a Tumblr blog?

Pros: Wheee! Pictures! Everybody loves pictures!
Cons: Entirely devoted to "Wheee! Pictures!" and I have yet to figure out how actual dialogue or contacting people takes place on them.

I don't have a tumblr.

Tumblr is definitely not focused on discussion, no. It does have the builtin ability to let people ask you questions -- some creators do Q&As this way -- and it has helpful support for Disqus for people who really do want comment threads or whatever, I think. (I don't, very much don't, so I haven't messed with that.)

There are, however, a number of Tumblrs that are largely text articles, even within my narrow interests. They are the minority, though, for sure.
