Anyone know how much it costs to rent a post hole digger? Or a digging bar? (I don't actually think this particular job needs a power auger.)

PS: Or I could get a post hole digger and I could then be that person who has one for people to borrow. Because as you've pointed out, there's usually no point to having one around.

Then again, I have been scheming to plant more trees and A SHRUBBERY, I'll buy one if it's the best choice?

You need a decent shovel for trees and shrubs, they need big wide holes. But I cannot imagine that a post hole digger is worth renting, they are like $20?

Hmm. True. I forget what [livejournal.com profile] r_ness was looking at that said post-hole diggers were never worth buying-- it may have been presuming you'd rent a nice one, but even the nice ones are 50-75. My family has used the same damn 25 dollar one for a generation now. If only they weren't in Ohio.

Yeah, I thought they were about $25, but looking around the prices I'm seeing are more like $50.
