So, I'm told it's been like this in Boston lately, too.

I'm in Vilnius, Lithuania, using the free internet at the hostel here. Wow, it's wet out. :)

More when there isn't a line for the single machine.

Tell us lots about it - my family hails from Lithuania (I'm 1st gen American). I especially want to know if all Lithuanian food is essentially some combination of potatoes, bacon and sour cream prepared in different manners, because that's sure as heck what it seems like from what they cook...

The short answer is yes. :)

The somewhat longer answer is that while Lithuanian cuisine does feature a lot of potatoes, pork, and sour cream, they do them quite well, if you like heavy food. I have a feature article in my Vilnius in your pocket guide called "Chow! An in-depth look into the extraordinary world of Lithuanian cooking" (It's two pages, which is a comment about the amount of available space in the guide, not about Lithuanian cuisine.)

One of the sidebars *is* titled "The mighty potato", however.

I have eaten well here, but I like heavy food. There was a nice pork roast at dinner last night, and I've had some pretty good herring appetizers. Vilnius is a fairly small place as capitals go, though, and no particular restaurant has really grabbed me as being worthy of a write-up. We'll see after breakfast, though.
