There are more Krispy Kreme donut shops in Greater Sydney...

...than there are in Greater Boston.

Last night, at Tropfest, an annual festival of short films, one of the sponsors was Krispy Kreme. Talking to some of the people I went with, I discovered that there are more shops in Greater Sydney than there are in Greater Boston. (Okay, the numbers are two in Sydney and one in Boston, but still.)

Anyway, there was surprise when I said that it wasn't even the biggest American donut chain.

The films were uneven but fun enough until it started to rain, because they were being shown on three big screens in the middle of the Domain, a part of the Royal Botanic Gardens.

Also, there were bats circling overhead at dusk.

I love the flying foxes. :) Other fun, local wildlife you can see in the city: Treesful of sulphur-crested cockatoos in the Domain and Gardens (and you'll hear them, too, at dusk, screaming raucously), and friendly possums in Hyde Park.

Damn. Krispy Kreme in Sydney? Crazy!

Do the cliff walk from Bondi to Coogee and the trail around Watson's Bay and The Gap...you won't be sorry. :)
