Tangentially related to that, I'll be driving from New Haven to Boston. I also have a craving for mac and cheese. Any suggestions for a stop or a place in Boston with good mac and cheese are welcome.
Rein's Deli (http://www.reinsdeli.com/) off of I-84 has baked mac and cheese. I haven't tried it, but everything else I've had there has been good. And they're open until midnight.
Per ndrtoon: Redbones, in Somerville, apparently has the mac and cheese you seek. (It's a bbq place.) He also is trying desperately to remember the name of another place, and thinks it might be Blue Ribbon Barbecue, in Boston proper.
The best Mac & Cheese I know of is my sister's recipie which I will ask her for at Christmas Break (I am now collecting recipies for my new recipie book). It involves 4 kinds of cheese and the usual pasta shape, some breadcrumbs and possibly some milk. But man, oh man, do those ingredients seem to meld well together.
If I make it when I get back, I'll invite you over for some.
