Yup, I do react differently to different kinds of racism.

I find that I draw a distinction between malicious racism and racism that arises from something well-intended. At least, I do when they're directed at me personally. (I'm perfectly willing to get angry on someone else's behalf if they're upset.)

They're certainly both problematic, but I find that I can often laugh about someone's racist blooper but the malicious racism just pisses me off.

I'll be glad to tell the story, but only in person and not on line.

!!! YE freaking argh!. Ok, that kind of thing pisses me off royally. Yeah I can see why it'd stick in your craw. I'm sorry it's been happening to you. And double damn glad it wasn't a brick or worse :-(

Oh, the thing thrown at me was a while ago. I mean, shit happens, but it's as much a part of my life as people driving like douchebags. I mean, Boston drivers. If I got pissed at that all the time I don't think I'd the energy to do much else.

By contrast, the thing that happened recently was something to laugh about.
