...than there are in Greater Boston.
Last night, at Tropfest, an annual festival of short films, one of the sponsors was Krispy Kreme. Talking to some of the people I went with, I discovered that there are more shops in Greater Sydney than there are in Greater Boston. (Okay, the numbers are two in Sydney and one in Boston, but still.)
Anyway, there was surprise when I said that it wasn't even the biggest American donut chain.
The films were uneven but fun enough until it started to rain, because they were being shown on three big screens in the middle of the Domain, a part of the Royal Botanic Gardens.
Also, there were bats circling overhead at dusk.

Date: 2004-02-23 03:43 am (UTC)The "plan" is that I'll be bopping around with a couple of friends down South before it gets any cooler and then make my way back to the North Island. After finishing there, I head back to Australia, but there isn't sufficient plan to say
exactly when that will be.
However, I can ask you...how long will you be in Australia?
We can figure out a way to meet up or something...
Re:
Date: 2004-02-23 08:09 am (UTC)Land in Melbourne Mar. 5. Leave sometime in the next few days. Drive to Sydney. Fly to Auckland on Mar. 11.
Spend the 11th through the 14th in Auckland and environs (with Emily, who I think you may have met once via me and Colin). Drive down through the North Island on the 15th through 19th, spend 19th through 21st on South Island, drive like a bat out of hell up North Island on 21st and 22nd to make flight on 23rd.
Think we might be able to catch up w/you in there? ;-)

Sure, looks good. The only thing that might be a problem is that we might cross the Tasman Sea in opposite directions past each other. But that's not likely. What is likely is that we'll be able to meet up either in Auckland or in Sydney.
Anyway, that's all really cool! Take care, have a great trip, and talk to you soon!
