[livejournal.com profile] oekler observed that Stargate SG-1 used a lot of IKEA furniture in its sets, including sets of places through the Stargate. "But how did it all get there?" she wanted to know.

Obviously, I said, IKEA has its own, separate Stargate network, and uses it to deliver furniture throughout the galaxy. And then I thought of the inevitable slogan.

I do believe that IKEA has teamed up with CDW who was very blatant in their advertising, about their pursuit of worm hole technology for shipping orders . . .

just a thought

hey, been meaning to ask you -- would it be completely rude to ask you to buy a mah jongg set without Gothic numbers? They're like $40-60 online including shipping, and I don't know how often you're in the states, so if it's too much hassle just let me know and I'll order it online. . .

Sure, I can look around; we should probably talk about what you mean by Gothic numbers and other such details, but I should be able to find out how much something like that costs in New York.

meaning, without numerals like "1", "2", just with the Chinese characters.

*nod* Okay, thanks for clarification.

Do you have preferences regarding material, size, and so forth? Let me know.

not particularly, though a nice "feeling" material would be nice. Plastic is kinda cheesy. . . but bone's expensive. I'm not looking to spend more than $50 on a set, but I do want it to look nice, and I'd rather not spend the money if cheap plastic is all I can get.

Standard size, etc. I don't need a mini set nor do I need an oversize one. . .I'm not very picky, really. :)

Yer Stargate link is still messed up ... it goes to www.livejournal.com/r_ness/www.stargate.com or somesuch. I think you want to put a href=http://www.stargate.com, then write "Stargate," and then close the a tag.

Yup, I left out the "http://" on the link. S'what happens when I try to code by hand while half asleep... :)

Thanks for the note! See you later on!

Whoa, small world, you're [livejournal.com profile] sstrickl's future housemate/landlady, yes?

And my theory was that since IKEA is Swedish, and all the Norse human cultures were buddy-buddy with the Asgard, who have big fast ships, maybe IKEA uses Asgard ships for moving stuff?

Cuz there was this planet that didn't even have a gate and it had LOTS of IKEA furniture in its mega-mega-mega-corporate headquarters, and that's when I got suspicious.

But maybe that's where the CDW wormhole technology comes in....

Yup, [livejournal.com profile] sstrickl moves in tomorrow! :)

I followed your theory (and was impressed) until you mentioned CDW ... I am not familiar with this term. Please explain?
